This Week on Planet Waves: The Sun in Libra

Dear Friend and Reader:

We experienced the Libra equinox on Sunday: that moment when the Sun enters Libra, marked by everyone on the Earth experiencing a day with equal hours of light and dark. This is an image of Libran balance, and a moment when all the world experiences something similar in the physical environment. If you're in the Northern Hemisphere, the scales are now tipped in the direction of more dark than light. If you're in the Southern Hemisphere, the Sun, the light and warmth are heading your way.

Whichever way the hours of daylight and night are shifting for you, the time of the Sun's passage through Libra brings into focus ideas about balance, justice, relationships and (since the sign is ruled by Venus) a sense of how elegant those things can be when sought out with awareness, integrity and compassion.

In tonight's edition of Planet Waves FM, Eric will look at the charts for the equinox and the Libra New Moon. He'll be joined by Mike Amari, host of the Planet Waves FM Backstage Uptown podcast. Their musical guest will be Sean Lennon and Charlotte Kemp Muhl, who will be performing at BSP on Saturday with The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger. Planet Waves FM generally posts by 8 pm EDT, and often earlier.

Eric began exploring another central idea associated with Libra in Monday's Daily Astrology column: that of awakening to the journey you're being called to travel in this world. The Sun is in contact with the Aries Point (the early degrees of Aries where the personal is political), and as it begins aspecting the Uranus-Pluto square, you can expect to experience both personal and world events heating up.

In today's Daily Astrology, I've explored a little deeper into the themes of Libra and the equinox. Social justice is, ultimately, relational justice -- just on a wider scale. Since none of us can take on all of the world's injustices at once, can you start locally (even in your personal relationships)?

Finally, be sure to check the Planet Waves blog again around noon today, when Len Wallick's latest column, about using the Venus-Jupiter trine to give your dreams a place, will be available to read and comment on.

Yours & truly,

Amanda Painter
