Jonathan is on holiday. I'll be covering for his daily stars column this week, through Friday, and will post the columns here. There will be a regularly scheduled edition of Planet Waves Weekly on Friday as well. We've also updated the parenting site with some excellent new articles -- see http://planetwavesparenting.net/ and please spread the word!

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 26, 2005

Typically, after a Full Moon, the cosmic energy begins to relax -- but not this month. Yesterday's Leo Full Moon was merely an impressive warm-up act leading to the planetary aspects on Friday: Mars conjunct Pluto and Mercury conjunct Chiron. Pluto and Chiron work quite well together. You can think of them as opposite ends of the same idea, but while Pluto works in deep, underground ways, Chiron works in more obvious ways that you can see and feel. Add personal planets (Mercury and Mars) to this equation, and we're surely heading for some momentous revelation, personal or otherwise.

Aries (March 20-April 19)
It's been said that faith can move mountains, but few people experience the benefits of this promise. If you want to, you can, and I think you're ready. Imagine how a miracle could scare the wits out of someone not quite prepared to accept that everything they believe is wrong. To accept miracles requires confidence, and confidence is something that you've learned a lot about in your life. You've accepted the benefits of being shown where your faith was misguided, or where you were exerting too much of your own effort. Now, hold that grain of faith in your heart, stand back and let the universe lead the way.

Taurus (April 19-May 20)
If you've been in the process of a divorce, negotiations, or any other intense process of settling matters of power over money, this is the week you'll put the past behind you. The final moments of any process are a critical time; reversals are possible, and small errors can snag things. We can get cold feet. Just keep your feet close to the fire and your eyes wide open. Aim your life for the needle's eye, and go right through. This ending should come more naturally than any step of the process so far -- as long as you resolve right now not to take anything for granted.

Gemini (May 20-June 21)
In theory, everyone in the world is equal. In practice, that's a matter of potential. We all have such different desires and diverse talents. Often it seems other people are doing something much more exciting or meaningful than we are, or like they got a long head start in their learning process. In reality, just about everyone you see who's attained some level of actual mastery has poured his or her heart and soul into it. They made up their mind to focus, and then exceeded significant adversities, many of them in their own personalities. That's the spirit that you need to borrow from the people you respect most.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)
When the tension of the Full Moon finally lets go, there's sometimes a strange feeling of realizing you didn't notice it building in the first place. While you've had so much work to get done, the pressure has served you well, but at the moment, your responsibilities have enough momentum that you don't need to push them along. This is the time, however, to make a few deep decisions about how you want to handle your work-related aspect of life. Pluto has certainly given you the impression that you didn't incarnate this time around just to have a good time. Mars is saying you now get to make some adjustments.

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23)
The Sun is now in your opposite sign, Aquarius, which is emphasizing the most important relationships in your life. Yet many planets are about to arrive in Aquarius, which means new people, new circumstances and new opportunities. There are challenging, busy days ahead. It's a good thing you're so talented at holding your center and remembering who you are; these are skills that will come in handy over the next few weeks. Yet I reckon from all this activity that you're about to learn something truly extraordinary about yourself; a major discovery is on the horizon. It's most likely to come through someone you meet and respect greatly.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22)
So much of the world and its affairs are based on obligations: those invisible, unwritten contracts that have their roots in relationships to our early caregivers. At this stage of your life, you need to beware of guilt in any form. I don't suggest you attempt to do something about it, just notice when you're feeling it, and see if you can observe the people, circumstances and emotions to which it connects inside you. Contrary to what may seem obvious, guilt does not mean you're 'wrong', or have done something wrong. Rather, you're recovering from an ancient control drama that it's now time to leave behind.

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23)
It should now be obvious that recent disturbances or upsets were masking a deeper, more important situation, which you can now set about resolving. It's truly awesome how responsive life is to our attempts to heal, and to make amends and improvements. It's almost as if every challenging situation we live with is waiting for loving attention, which then prompts both people and 'circumstances' to grow and improve. When we hide awareness of how we feel, or stuff our fears and concerns under the rug, that's when things get out of control. Sunlight is not just the best disinfectant; it is the source of life.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22)
There is a long-term development brewing in your chart that deals with your location on the planet, your sense of home, your sense of security, and your relationship to your family. What's odd is that these questions are likely to be dressed in the garb of 'money issues'. If they are, it has everything to do with your original family's problems with money and attitudes about it; for example, how they gave it so much more power than it really deserves. It's good, useful stuff, but no matter how much you have, it remains true that money doesn't help people -- people help people.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22)
There may be a great deal in your life that is filling you with a sense of urgency or necessity. Specific things may come to the surface with a 'do or die' message. Yet if you remember that your whole world is being shaped and formed by one major change or decision, you'll find it easier to let the individual problems go. Stick to the big ones; to the more sweeping changes of attitude; to your long-term needs. Once you have your ideas and objectives in order, you'll find it easier to handle the smaller concerns. For now, don't let them distract you; most will just disappear.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20)
Lately, your birth sign, and thus your life, has been the scene of extraordinary progress. In recent weeks, there's been a long, slow, delectable conjunction of Venus and Mercury. On Friday, there's a meeting of Mercury and Chiron. Chiron has been around your life for a few years, stirring every pot on the stove. Mercury's union with this planet represents the sudden “Aha!” that brings home everything you've learned, and everything that you've become. Awareness not only has the potential to change us; it's the only thing that does. Awareness of what? Perhaps the truth of the words "love is all there is."

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19)
One of the greatest illusions or denial trips we live with is the notion of 'independence'. The New World is particularly delusional about this, but many places and people fancy themselves as islands. I suggest that we work toward healthy, conscious interdependence, since that's the only healthy option we have. At the moment, the extent to which your life is rather meaningfully interwoven with the lives of so many people is becoming obvious. You may, at times, get nervous, wondering what would happen if something fails; but if so, you've got it backwards. Protection, companionship and assistance are all around you, and that is true safety.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)
Many people worry about what their life means in the larger scheme of things, and some are not happy with the answer. There's no need for you to have this particular problem. Whether you've noticed or not, you can be sure you're living your life for a purpose that far exceeds yourself. Even if this has not seriously occurred to you, you can assume it's true, and would be wise to do so. Your impact is growing in rather large measures, and the intensity of your relationship with the world is increasing. As for that true, deep, spiritual kind of meaning: merely look, and you shall see.
