Schedules, Small Worlds and Love from Chelsea

Schedules, Small Worlds and Love from Chelsea
Dear Friend and Reader:

Today I'm here with the first of several inevitable schedule changes associated with the annual horoscope -- and to remind you that your Small World Stories are due today. I'll get to SWS in a moment, but first I have a thank you from Chelsea, our business manager, who is doing well as a new mom. Eli, her week-old son, is a healthy and strong kid, and my Pisces soul-brother TJ, Chelsea's husband, is a rock solid and extremely happy father. I get teary-eyed every time I talk to him.

Chelsea is infinitely grateful for the many, many notes of congratulations she received. She will not be able to reply (although she really wants to), but she is not quite past the phase of sleeping for two hours at a time.

We are adjusting to her not being there as the business hub while she is on leave, so customer service is clocking at slightly less than lightning speed. But you may hear from MaryLaura, who is helping Chelsea sort her email and responding to phone messages. Removes (from promo lists) and address changes will go through, it will just take a little longer than usual.

Birthday Report

Today's schedule change involves consolidating to one birthday report a month. There was one scheduled for today; with my sincerest apologies, it's not going to happen -- but Scorpios will hear about 2007-2008 in two weeks. Sagittarius will probably also be posted later in the solar month, and then when we are on the 2008 schedule, the birthday report will be issued early in the solar month, i.e., not long after the Sun has changed signs.

One of my recent decrees as publisher is that I will not have to overwork, and that typically happens around annual horoscope time. Those who handle oracles (such as astrology) need to be careful. Too many astrologers I know push themselves way too hard, particularly to meet their writing deadlines. The person with the oracle must be working with a fresh mind, for many reasons; and the process must be unhurried -- remember this if it's 11:30 pm, you've had three glasses of wine, and somebody wants you to read their tarot cards. So -- Scorpio birthdays will be published two weeks from today; Sagittarius birthdays one month from then. Birthday kids -- thank you for your understanding.

Please Sign Up a Friend or Two

Friends and readers, while I've got your attention, I want to thank you for being a subscriber. Your seemingly modest contributions have helped us grow and thrive as an Internet project.

If you happen to be one of those who forward Planet Waves each week to the same people, I have a request: please pause in your day right now, and sign at least one of them up for a subscription. As in, this moment. Please don't expect them to do it; you know how people are. If you believe in our work enough to send it out to those you care about, then please invest in us so that we can keep growing in that work.

Forwarding our magazine is encouraged; turning one subscription into five, or even into two, is not. Make no excuses, dear. We appreciate the network marketing assistance; now I would like to enlist you in a goal of honoring American economics and helping us double our subscriber base. That would make us into a solidly profitable company, which we deserve to be -- which you tell us we deserve to be.

Here is the subscription link. Thank you. One interesting option is the lifetime subscription. For that, you will never see another renewal notice, and you'll get to spend an hour with me, on the phone or in person, answering questions about your chart. And Gold Members currently get access to the Eros area and the Book of Blue site, until our hot new Eros area is completed next year.

Small World Stories

As for Small World Stories: if you've been mulling one over, take a few minutes and type it in, let it sit for a few hours and then rewrite it. Then send it to smallworld@planetwaves.net and let us know that you are resending. Note, most of the people who already sent in stories did not sign their names. If you sent in one, please send it again and tell us who you are. This will make life easier for those of us who are coordinating the project.

In case you misplaced it, here are the instructions for the stories.

I'll see you later in the week with the regular Friday edition.

Scorpionically yours,
Eric Francis

PS, a note of solidarity. As a member of two writers' unions (the National Union of Journalists of the UK and the National Writers Union of the United States) I would like to express my solidarity with the Writers Guild of America, whose members are on strike. Writers work hard, and most of us have to work longer than it takes to go to medical school followed by law school before we earn a living wage. In particular, the writers want a bigger piece of new media: iPods, the Internet, and whatever is to come. I am all for that. Writers are the people who make you laugh, the people who make you think, and the ones who show you the world beyond your mother's garden.
