Regime Change in Egypt and Relationship Revolutions
Dear Friend of Planet Waves,
The breaking news from Egypt that President Mubarak has stepped down and left Cairo bears out a statement Eric made in this morning's subscriber issue. He wrote, "Notably, Mubarak, born in early May, has become the brunt of a good few Taurus jokes, based mostly on his tenacity in the face of extreme resistance. But he does actually appear to be going through a transformation. The ruling planet of that midheaven, Venus, is currently conjunct Pluto and Vesta. He has given up something, namely the powers of the presidency."
Astrology shows us the story behind the story, before it manifests in actions and gets broadcast to the world, and this is a perfect example of how that can work.
Eric had cast the chart in this morning's subscriber issue for yesterday's Communique #1 from the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces in Cairo. Among other things, it reinforces the image in Egypt's natal chart of a military that's a bit two-faced, despite its apparent neutrality throughout the revolt. Now we will see how the transition unfolds. Eric wrote of that chart:
"There is, however, something that indicates how fragile the situation really is. Though you cannot see it clearly in the chart, when you look at the numbers, Mars is exactly (to within one degree) halfway between the Sun and Mercury. Mars, always a co-ruler of the military in a public chart, is also conjunct Nessus, a centaur planet of karma coming back through a cycle of events. Nessus also indicates an injury based on psychic abuse of some kind; it would seem the armed forces have also struggled under the dictatorship."
Updates on the astrology of the latest developments in Egypt can be found on
the Planet Waves blog. You won't find this level of analysis and insight anywhere else this soon.
Also in today's subscriber issue, Eric asks out the whole world in Be My Valentine. The article dives into how far the idea of polyamory has come in mainstream media, how far it still has to go in local communities, and how, at its core, it's really a solid way to individuate in the context of relating -- if polyamory is something that resonates with you.
